Contoural launches services that enable companies to ensure their
data is archived in compliance with regulations.
LOS ALTOS, CA (January 13, 2003) - Contoural Systems, Inc., an independent
provider of storage consulting and education services, today formally
announced the launch of a set of services that enable companies to
ensure that their data is archived in compliance with regulations
in the most cost-effective manner. Companies in all industries are
facing both new, and stricter regulations, and increased enforcement
of existing regulations that are requiring them to save more electronic
documents and information for longer periods of time. This information
ranges from e-mail to clinical data to financial data in specific
industries such as financial services and health sciences. Additionally,
all publicly-traded companies face new regulations requiring them
to save and archive electronic documents and e-mail. Contoural’s
services help companies both determine what information needs to be
archived, and once that is determined, how should this data best be
archived. As an independent supplier of services that sells no products
Contoural provides independent objective advice that helps companies
reduce risks, reduce costs and ensure compliance.
“Companies face a patchwork of compliance regulations both in
their specific industry and also as publicly-traded companies,”
according to Mark Diamond, President & CEO of Contoural. These
regulations include SEC 17a-4, FDA Rule 21 CFR Part 11, HIPAA and
the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. “There is a great deal of confusion
in terms of what the regulations are and what it requires to be in
compliance,” says Diamond. “Our approach is to help our
customers understand how these regulations apply to them.” Contoural
has Contoural launches services that enable companies to ensure their
data is archived in compliance with regulations. Contoural has expertise
both in industry-specific requirements such as financial services,
and general compliance regulations faced by all publicly-traded companies.
Contoural’s approach is not limited to understanding regulations.
Contoural helps customers balance both regulatory needs along with
liability and end-user best practices. Contoural brings together compliance
officers, message administrators, application administrators and storage
administrators and help companies build a consensus on the best data
archival policy. Contoural’s approach is to straddle both the
business and compliance issues with a deep understanding of storage
technology and best practices. “While there is significant uncertainty
and even fear about compliance, with the right approach this is a
very solvable problem,” says Diamond.
Once the appropriate archival policy has been developed, Contoural
works with its customers to develop the best storage architectures
and processes for implementing the policy at the lowest possible cost.
. “Once an organization understands what to save, implementing
compliance is an 80% storage problem,” says Diamond. As an independent
supplier of services that sells no product, Contoural can provide
objective advice. “We know what does and does not work, so we
reduce the risk of the complex deployments.” Furthermore, achieving
compliance need not be expensive, and our services actually save money
by putting in processes to utilize a more cost-effective storage solution.
Contoural offers a number of Compliance Services. These include
